Another fight for this metal…….. 

Dotty: strange and silly.

Grotty: unpleasant.   

We wonder if the name really fits into us; but guess no one is so much troubled about the name, so no big deal about it on the view and we stand one in the name of metal……………DAUGHTY GROWTHYS.

We came about to the face of each other somewhere around the spring of 2001, and ever since, despite the fact that even being scattered through the length of ‘MAHAN BHARAT’ we never disappoint ourselves to prove our pledge to the phenomena of the prevailing Music affairs.

The long seven years have brought us all, not to the band, not to the friendship…………but to the metal family. And through this run of time, initially, we’re thankful and grateful to our friends, who never missed buying the passes to our shows. The mind is clear, so there ain’t any shit messages in our music, ‘make metal, do metal not ‘SEX, DRUGS AND ROCK N’ ROLL’.      We agree that, we guys don’t put up as many shows as we are suppose to, and so those people who knows us, could have had a lot times, the feeling of the DAUGHTY GROWTHYS being death, but you see….. no one can replace no one in the band, and we guys could never bring about the thought of putting up a replacement member for a show, so unless all the five metal maniacs, gets together, we do not play on stage……cos’ we simply don’t metal with everyone…….cos’ the name DAUGHTY GROTHYS belongs to five of us, and not to anyone. 

Talking of influence, we guys rely on any thing that sounds like a car crush or an accident, but not the nu – metal stuffs, where most songs are tend to be sung by GAY like voices. To rectify all the five of us would be something like PANTERA or SEPULTURA (we have a tendency toward ‘RA’) but sad that Darrel now ‘rests in peace’ and Maxx Cavalara hardly yields ‘War for TERRRRITORYY’. But setting aside all the facts of influences and stuffs like that, we are trying to influence ourselves, we got some bunch of songs written, by Along & Lipok, we are just waiting for the right time, when guys would catch a long break and sit down to argue the songs upon. Some few songs have been materialized and could be soon on the local view.

The band has been, since 2004, supervised by Nungsang, a very good friend of the band, since before, (and now, we guess, we at least meet him once a year) and now for the much delayed part of the bands militia, we have a shouter, Bendang (Bendangkokba) on the vocals, Along and Lipok exchanging the guitars, (sir) Among shredding the fat strings and Kenny (looh) with the wands. We guys are brought up from different backgrounds and with different missions and intentions (by our parents) and so thus we have variety in the band.

BENDANG at present is about to master the discipline of Geography, from the North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, and supposedly hopes to be a doctorate in the subject in the latter, latter, latter part of the future. “I find it envying to my own self that, if fate favors than m’ gonna be a degreed person and still be shouting for DAUGHTY GROWTHYS.” His musical ideology is screwed up with pure metal, and still listens to Metallica, apart from Pantera. At present he has discovered Children of Bodom, Venom, Symphony X, Bruce Dickinson and Sting. Vocally influenced by James Hetfield, and the voice he envy is Ronnie James Dio’s. He has collaborated with many metal bands in Shillong, yet he is the Backbone of Daughty Growths.  

ALONG, still experimenting music, but haven’t quite yet finished exploring the musical body for the Orgasmic peak: and expected never to cease. Influenced by Led Zeppelin came into metal mania, but yet there’s no sign of betrayal towards Jimmy Page and his lot. He is the wise and the idle amongst us, whom we expect to be nothing else but, lazy. Graduate in Bachelor of Science and at the moment is pursuing a course in the ‘IT’ career for Software Engineer. The most creative person, who is looking forward to be a jazz player with METAL brains.

LIPOK, started with Led Zep, Rainbow, Dio and nothing much is known about his taste at the moment, but apart from Fusion music, we certainly heard him listening to Lamp of God, Slipknot, Pantera and hardcore NWOAHM. For the person himself: Nu – metal sucks and is heavily inclined towards European Metal bands. Was also the drummer of ‘Dark Vengeance’ at the band’s initial stage in Bangalore. He has a clear certificate of a Post Graduate in Event Managements course, and at present owns the ‘Orange Events’, Event Management, Kohima.

AMONG, the theoretical guy and the law-abiding citizen of India plays the bass. Playing and recording with many professional artist including the Grammy nominee Bikram Singh, Derek Julian (one of the oldest and the best jazz  guitarist in India), Karen Lafferty, Marga jee and the soulchasers, Pharos (Tehran-based progressive jazz band), to name a few. He loves jazz, funk, soul and Indian classical music and of course METAL, he listens to lotsa jazz, and is teaching the bass for TIMEPASS… Some of his favorites are Victor Wooten, Alain Caron, Chick corea acoustic band, Jaco Pastorious, Jamiroquai, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Abraham Loboriel and Tribal Tech. He is currently doing his research studies in Defence and Strategic studies.

KENNY, the FUNNY MAN in the band plays the drums apart from TABLA and EGG-SHAKERS. The most motivated, dedicated and committed Metal head. Influenced by non other than guys like Lars, Vinnie Paul and Portnoy, he drums only in metal songs, everything else is……….?. He listens to lotsa Pantera, Lamb of God, Sepultura and Megadeth (oh! He owns one of Justin Timberlake’s latest records and of course, he listens to it with great appreciations). Known for his powerful drumming and stage acts, he has influenced many youngsters in Nagaland. He is a renown contractor and a successful business man.
